1064 Nd:YAG Laser

Nd:YAG is an abbreviation for Neodymium-Doped Yttrium Aluminium Garnet. This substance is used to make a laser which is very useful for treating small spider veins. This laser is also occasionally used to treat dark skined individuals for permanent hair reduction. The 1064 Nd:YAG laser is not an ideal tool to use for permanent hair reduction because the target within the hair (melanin) does not absorb 1064 nanometer photons very well.
