Ascorbic Acid
The chemical name for vitamin C. It is also called L-Ascorbic Acid. The problem with topical L-Ascorbic Acid is that it is highly unstable in air and water. After being exposed to air or water, topical L-Ascorbic Acid becomes oxidized. Once it is oxidized, it not only does not work anymore, it actually becomes a "pro-oxidant" which can actually cause wrinkles! You can usually tell when L-Ascorbic Acid becomes oxidized because it starts to turn yellow or brown. Lots of manufactures know this, so they tint their products. This makes it impossible to tell when the product has gone bad! Our Step 3 Max product is pristine white. Furthermore, it has additional ingredients and packaging that prevent it from oxidizing.
