FAQ’s...

Q.) What is the difference between Xeomin and Botox?

A.) Both products are very similar. They are both purified proteins which are used to help muscles relax. Xeomin is sold by a company called Merz. Botox is sold by a company called Allergan. At this time (January 2012), Xeomin costs less than Botox, but that could change at any time. Xeomin is nearly pure protein which makes it a little less likely for people to become immune to it. Before 1997, some patients became immune to Botox. Then, in 1997, Allergan reduced the impurities by about 80%. Since that time, there have been no new cases of patients becoming immune or resistant to Botox. Xeomin does not have to be refrigerated before it is mixed. Both products seem ot last about 3-4 months. Both products seem to start to take effect within 2-3 day and peak at about 2 weeks. Botox has been in the United States since about 1985. Xeomin has been available in the United States since November 2011.

Xeomin®

Xeomin West Palm Beach Wellington

Xeomin is the latest addition to the group of medications that are available in the United States that can be used treat  wrinkles. Xeomin is now available in the West Palm Beach area at our office. This is in advance of the product’s nationwide launch which is scheduled for early in 2012. As a new alternative to BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport®, Xeomin was developed by Merz Aesthetics and is one of the latest treatments for wrinkle reduction on the market today. Xeomin, also called incobotulinumtoxinA,  has been approved by the FDA for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines (frown lines between the eyebrows) in adult patients. In actual practice, Xeomin is used almost exactly the same way we use Botox.

Dr. Sinclair was one of the first doctors in the United States to be chosen to try Xeomin. If you are interested in a more relaxed and youthful appearance with less wrinkles and gently arched eyebrows, then Xeomin may be right for you! To schedule a consultation, you can call us at 561-795-7546 (SKIN) so we can help you decide if Xeomin is right for you.

Unlike BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport®, XEOMIN® has a low protein count which is beneficial to patients who have allergic reactions to other dermal injections. The results you can expect with Xeomin are comparable to BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®. Our patients that have tried Xeomin have been very pleased. Similar to Botox and Dysport, Xeomin is injected using special 33 guage needles (which are extremely small). Xeomin is composed of a highly purified protein which helps facial muscles relax. There is NO CHANCE that you can get Botulism from an injection of Xeomin. None. Zero. Nada. Daily activities can be resumed immediately after the procedure as there is no post-treatment restrictions. Results become noticeable in a few days and typically last 12-16 weeks, sometimes even longer!
