Yag Laser Treatment

YAG laser treatments can effectively treat spider veins in the legs. During a YAG laser treatmenta laser is used to create pulses of very bright light aimed at the spider veins. These pulses of light makes the vein constrict and then slowly fade and disappear. The YAG laser we use is very powerful and accurate. By adjusting the settings on the YAG laser we can minimize damage to the skin and maximize the damage to the spider veins. Most skin types and colors can be safely treated with lasers.

YAG laser treatment is more appealing to some patients because it does not use needles or incisions. When the laser hits the skin, you will feel a hot sensation. To minimize any discomfort, our YAG laser has a built in cooling device that freezes the skin while the pulses of light are being fired. This cooling helps to dramatcially reduce the discomfort associated with spider vein treatment. The smaller the spider vein, the less discomfort you will feel. YAG laser treatments scheduled in 15 minute increments based on the number of veins that need to be treated. Depending on the severity of the veins, one to five treatments are generally needed to make the spider veins disappear. Most patients will be able to return to normal activity right after treatment.

The possible side effects of YAG laser treatments are usually related to the size of the spider veins that are being treated. For spider veins less than 1 mm, YAG laser treatment is an ideal choice. For spider veins that are between 1 and 4 mm in size, we recommed sclerotherapy.
